The South African Mint presents the new circulation coin series – SA25 Commemorating 25 Years of Democracy – inspired by the South African born frees. The presentation will cover:

Theme selection process – Born Frees -25 (those born under democracy) were asked to suggest coin art themes
Findings from the research and dominant themes – feedback from the Born Frees highlighted various concepts which could be grouped under our various rights, freedoms and values.
Artist brief – new upcoming artists were requested to create an artistic interpretation of the themes for the set of 6 circulation coins and 3 collectable coins
The campaign has its own identity, logo and promotional material was created, engaging with the SA citizens to collect the coins. A safe keep pack was developed and was distributed for free. A microsite and social media tags were also developed.
