The aim of the presentation would be to give a picture of the situation of coin circulation in Spain, especially focused on the description of COVID-19 impact and post-pandemic landscape in distribution, volumes of circulation, use of coins and inventories. Some figures of national coin circulation in the context of the Eurosystem would be provided. A review of the Spanish coin cycle and agents involved would be included, with special attention to the role of BdE in it, through the activity of our headquarters and branches, and the latest initiatives implemented (new cash management system, new software application to register and manage coin requests, installation of coin collection machines, etc.). Finally, foreseeable evolution and future challenges would be tackled.
