As part of its strategic objective of enhancing coin handling efficiencies, the Central Bank of Eswatini, launched the Coin Management Efficiencies Project to promote coin recirculation through automation of cash handling. The project addresses challenges such as coin hoarding and high minting costs, by introducing coin vending machines and counting/sorting systems. These machines, deployed in collaboration with commercial banks and retailers at strategic locations, provide the public with an easy, accessible way to deposit and use coins for purchases. The initiative has significantly improved public coin deposit and recirculation, reduced coin hoarding, and streamlined coin management for retailers and banks. By alleviating the burdens of manual coin handling, the project enhances coin handling efficiency. It promotes a sustainable coin recirculation framework, contributing to the overall economic stability of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
