Most of the Mexican coins have kept the same characteristics since more than 12 years, meanwhile new developments are available in the coin industry. Aiming to offer coin users an increasingly useful and higher quality product, Banco de México is pursuing to improve the features of Mexican coins, as well as to reduce their production costs by using alternate alloys.
In turn, in the recently issued G banknote series a 20-peso banknote was not considered, instead it was planned to meet the demand of this denomination solely with coins due to reasons of quality, costs and user preferencences.
